Sandy Clough

Bucilla Needle Crafts

"I wish for you Faith, I send to you Hope, I share with you Love from a joyful heart." Artist Sandy Clough's message to her collectors echoes the theme of her delicately detailed paintings that have become beloved by women around the world.

An award-winning author and illustrator, Sandy's work has an heirloom look and feel. She enjoys painting the items that surround her in her home - her collection of antiques and teacups, antique roses, and other Victorian items. Sandy's images are truly windows into her heart, and in turn, they touch the hearts of her collectors who are drawn in by their beauty and peacefulness.

Sandy is a fourth generation painter, and she created her first oil painting when she was in the second grade. Over the years she pursued her interest in painting and went on to earn a Masters in Art Education from Mississippi College. While still in school, she began to sell her paintings. Interest in her work grew and today her art and products featuring her art are available throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia in gift stores, Christian book stores, furniture stores, and frame shops. In recent years, more than 275 new home decorating and gift products using Sandy's art have been introduced including needlework kits, wallpaper, figurines, scrapbooking supplies, and All Night Media rubber stamps.

Plaid is thrilled to include Sandy in our family of All Night Media designers. Her lovely images are a celebration of hope and friendship and translate beautifully into rubber stamps. This collection is perfect for adding a vintage look to any stamping project.

The collection of Sandy Clough stamps from All Night Media includes one foam-mounted stamp set, From My Front Porch, which features images of rocking chairs, pots of flowers, and other welcoming images. In addition, the collection also includes wood-mounted stamps and brass stencils in designs of vintage purses, antique teacups, old-timey shoes, borders, and more.

Kathy Davis

Bucilla Needle Crafts

Designer and illustrator Kathy Davis is living her dream. Growing up she always wanted a career based on creativity, and since 1990, she has done just that.

After spending 10 years as an art teacher, she was inspired by her students to test her own creative wings. In 1990 she launched her own line of greeting cards with Recycled Paper Greetings, and today she ranks as one of their top artists. Kathy's designs appear all over the world on a variety of products, including stationary, posters, stickers, and Plaid's own Bucilla needlecrafts.

Plaid first met Kathy at the Surtex Artists's Exhibit in New York many years ago. Since then the relationship has blossomed. Together Plaid and Kathy have developed "Hearts in Bloom" a craft painting book full of Kathy's whimsical designs. Her designs also appear on a variety of Bucilla cross stitch kits.

While Kathy says she thoroughly enjoys the creative freedom of working for herself and the "luxury" of building her own dreams, entrepreneurship does present some challenges. "My biggest challenge is the juggling of my many roles I am facing as I try to grow my own business," she says. "I'd like to continue to develop new lines of designs in a variety of styles, including more surface designs that would be applicable to textiles, giftwrap, etc."

Kathy's advice to other artists trying to break into the industry is "Never give up!" "Take satisfaction in every job you do, however small," she says.

Donna Dewberry

Bucilla Needle Crafts

A native Floridian, mother of seven and grandmother of eight, Donna Dewberry has been involved with painting and crafts for more than 25 years.

Donna Dewberry began decorative painting, she says, “because she wanted to enhance items in her home with her own designs.” She started with what she calls "dot," which uses the end of the brush handle to paint shapes. She eventually got up the courage to use the bristle end of the brush. After many evenings at her dining room table and learning by observation, Donna Dewberry developed FolkArt® One Stroke™, a technique for stress-free, stroke-by-stroke decorative painting. One Stroke focuses on loading the brush rather than theories of light and dark, shading and highlighting.

“It's a technique for the masses,” says Donna. “One Stroke™ teaches people how to paint flowers--a popular subject and one of the most difficult to paint. With One Stroke, creating beautiful flowers is all a matter of how you load the brush."

With her One Stroke™ Teacher Certification Program, Donna Dewberry has certified more than 6,000 painters as One Stroke Certified Instructors (OSCIs). These teachers live all over the world, and consistently offer classes for new and experienced One Stroke™ students. Not only is Donna in high demand as a teacher, but also as an interior designer and speaker. She makes regular appearances on television networks in America and Canada. She is also a columnist in several arts and crafts publications.

Donna Dewberry’s love of painting has expanded from traditional dйcor to painting on glass and ceramics with FolkArt® Enamels™, to outdoor surfaces with FolkArt® Outdoor, and to fabric and textiles with FolkArt® Fabric. Although Donna is a successful painter, she still considers her most import success to be her family. Donna’s husband works with her, and their seven children and eight grandchildren have also played key roles in her success by helping out with drawing, painting, and even distribution.
